Making the plastic playhouse last long and good as new is always a concern among parents. Wear and tear is inevitable but you could prolong the life and appearance of your new purchase as long as you know the basics of maintenance.

As much as possible, give your playhouse some shade. Too much exposure from the heat of the sun as well as rain could hasten the deterioration of the plastic construction.

Frequency of cleaning usually depends on how much dirt your plastic playhouse gets. Cleaning with soap and water quarterly will do but if the need arises, you can always do it more often. Remember the basic rule to cleaning your plastic playhouse; never use abrasive cleaning products because they may damage the surface. Use mild detergents, sponges or soft cloths. Stay away from using aerosol in cleaning your childrens’ playhouse no matter how convenient it is. It may cause latent pitting that could develop into spots over time.

Keeping your playhouse as good as new is not very hard as long you commit yourself to doing it and follow the simple guidelines.

Amongst the many functions of plastic playhouses is its capability to stimulate the imaginative minds of the children through role playing. Children are natural role players. They love to imagine and create a world where they pretend to be somebody else. This is why most modern playhouses are designed with features that encourage children to explore.

One of the major benefits children derive from role playing in their playhouse is socialization. With one, two or many friends to play around with, they learn how to mingle, share and do their part in the role play.

Plastic playhouses are conceived because most children love to have a space, particularly a house, of their own. They love to role play as a family, having somebody as a mother, a father and kids. They even imitate the normal atmosphere inside their homes. In a way, they learn through it the value of family bonding.

Role playing is a form of adventure as well as education for children and one of the key ways of delivering it to the children is providing them with playhouses that would stimulate their imagination.

Choosing a plastic playhouse that’s perfect for your kids can be a little complicated when the market offers hundreds of models to choose from. One of the many important aspects to take into account is the presence of battery-operated gadgets specifically those that create different sounds.

As there are many benefits derived from these gadgets, there are also downsides to having them in playhouses. An example is the Magic Doorbell playhouse from Little Tikes, which contain 6 different doorbell sounds. It surely adds fun to children and it lets them role-play about letting a guest inside the playhouse. You can be more creative by converting this into an educational game where children will be assigned each sound and they will guess who’s ringing the bell based on the sound. Another model from Little Tikes, the Imagine Sounds Playhouse incorporates electronic sensors that generate different sounds and voices to invite anybody to play.

One drawback to having different sounds in your plastic playhouses is the frequent changing or re-charging of batteries, which of course adds up to family expenses. As sound is very stimulating to children, they have the tendency to push the buttons more often creating persistent sounds that sometimes leads to nuisance. Surely, you don’t want angry neighbours complaining at your doorsteps.

Battery-powered gadgets in your garden playhouse can be an added joy or nuisance. The most important thing to consider is the benefits they could give your kids. After all, playhouses are designed for children’s satisfaction and not for adults’ concern.
